The final race in September will no longer be on the 3rd September but will be on the 10th september instead.
Instead of the normal handicap format there will be a 4th cat only race, 3rd cat only race as well as an E/1/2 categroy race.
The NCRA has been using the Rockingham Speedway since 2013 as a way of increasing the amount of races for Northamptonshire based clubs throughout the season. With an increase in numbers since the series creation 2014 saw regular numbers of 50+ riders attending for the handicapped racing.
The inner race circuit provides a great test for all riders with a silky smooth surface as well as enough cornering to keep everybody on their toes.
The NCRA would like to thank Rockingham Speedway for their continued support and accomodation of the NCRA so far.
2014 saw the introduction of Dawes as the youth series sponsor at the Rockingham Speedway. With a growing interest the series began to attract young racers from far and wide to the circuit, the series is allocated it's own time slot before the senior races start to enable the younger riders to participate with the track to themselves.
"The Castle Bromwich-based company will present Dawes drinking bottles containing High 5 energy products for meritorious rides each week as well as providing jerseys to be worn by each week’s winners for podium pictures and contributing to the prize fund."
An increasingly uncommon form of racing which allows a range of abilities to race together without the faster riders dominating!
In the spring series groups are based on abilities and past performances, this takes great skill from the handicapper who needs to have a vast knowledge of the entrants from top to bottom!
Time gaps generally depend on the course, entrants and weather conditions on the day.
For the Rockingham Speedway groups are generally split into BC license categories due to the unpredictability of entrants on the line.
The NCRA - About us
The NCRA has promoted races within Northamptonshire for local riders anually without fail for as long as most can remember. With 13 clubs pulling together each year to put on a full programme of spring and summer racing the NCRA is one of the Central Regions most active associations.
In recent years, due to popular demand, the NCRA has expanded it's repertoire to include a summer long series of races based around the closed circuit of Rockingham Speedway. The races remain primarily handicapped but also include the occasional scratch race. The summer series races have atracted regular numbers of 50+ riders per week, and now play host to an ever expanding youth series which is sponsored by Dawes, allowing the NCRA to continue to help and support cycling in its youngest form.
